IMPORTANT SIGNAL BOOST PLEASE

WHAT THE FUCK

WELL FUCK EVERYTHING!
I WORKED FOR AN NGO THAT WAS TRYING TO SAVE TIGERS FOR ABOUT HALF A YEAR, PEOPLE ON THE STREETS SPIT AT ME AND THREATENED ME (WHICH IS NOT THE POINT) BUT YOU LISTEN UP:
THERE ARE ONLY 3.200 WILD TIGERS LEFT ON THE ENTIRE WORLD
97% OF THEIR HABITAT HAS BEEN BURNED DOWN OR REMOVED OTHERWISE
3 OUT OF 9 TIGER-SUBSPECIES HAVE ALREADY DIED OUT
THE SOUTH-CHINESE TIGER HASN’T BEEN SIGHTED IN OVER 30 YEARS
THEY ARE SKINNED ALIVE (AS ARE MOST ANIMALS) BC YOU CAN REMOVE THEIR FUR EASIER WHEN THEY ARE STILL BLEEDING
NO EXCEPTIONS FOR CUBS
SOME PEOPLE HUNT THEM BC THEY THING A TIGER PENIS MAKES THEM BETTER IN BED (I’M NOT KIDDING)
EXPERTS CLAIM THAT IF THE KILLING GOES ON, TIGERS WILL BE ENTIRELY EXTINCT IN 2022

SAVE THE TIGERS.
I WANT MY CHILDREN, MY CHILDREN’S CHILDREN, AND MY CHILDREN’S CHILDREN’S CHILDREN TO KNOW WHAT TIGERS LOOK LIKE WITHOUT EXPLAINING IT USEING TEXT BOOKS AND STUFFED ANIMALS.
THIS DEEPLY UPSETS ME. PLEASE SAVE THE TIGERS.

Today one of my friends was dress coded for her bra strap showing and so she wrote on the gym shirt that they gave her. It reads “Dress Code: promotes the objectification and sexualization of young bodies, blames the wearer for the onlooker’s perceptions/actions, perpetuates rape culture, and is bullshit” On the back she wrote “You can’t shame me for something I’m not ashamed for”. It was really cool seeing all of the people’s reactions who saw it and I thought what she did was pretty cool.

Yes. YES. Fuck Columbus forever.I’ll always distinctly remember being a -child-, maybe 7? and even then being so horribly angry about Columbus. I was originally vocal about it. The real kicker? I quickly learned to shut up about how I felt.I tried to talk about how infuriating it was to learn how Columbus invaded and destroyed an entire native people. And every adult I talked to tried to convince me everything Columbus did was totally okay. Apparently children aren’t supposed to learn about Columbus and find him to be anything but ~brave~ and ~adventurous~ or some shit.I’m still, even now, fucking appalled anyone, ANYONE, could so easily and thoughtlessly try to indoctrinate a small child into accepting genocide of native people. It’s …disgusting, and so extremely telling of how far our culture will go in its dehumanization and erasure of the violence native people endured and continue to endure at our hands.
So. Yes. Fuck Columbus.I hope someday we all celebrate Indigenous People Day and only remember Columbus for his crimes against humanity.

Quite a few guys on here look asian
So are we seriously going to pretend the Chinese never had an empire? The treatment of the han chinese by the Manchu dynasties?
Or how about the Tibetans, who are forced to learn about Chinese history in their schools?
Or how about the Japanese treatment of the Ainu and Japanese colonialism and imperialism in general?  The Japanese murdering Queen Min and subsequently annexing Korea? Rape of Nanking?  Area 731? Comfort Women?
Are we going to pretend everything in North and South America was all hunky dory before the Conquestidors showed up, and the various tribes and civilisations all lived in harmony with one another?  Scalping wasn’t a thing?   That the Aztec, Maya and Inca civilisations didn’t aggressively expand their empire,so they could have fresh slaves to use in ritualistic torture and human sacrifices to their deities?   No, I’m sure the child slaves who were selected as sacrifices to the rain god Tlaloc ripped off their own fingernails and drowned themselves to please the appetite of someone else’s deity
Oh I’m sorry, this is tumblr, and it’s racist to hold other cultures to the same standards that white people are held to, or it\s not racism because… well we can’t use Power Plus Privilege anymore since that’s an extremely Murrica-centric model.   Looks like tumblr has a few new words to redefine since it’s not only Whitey who is capable of them!

Thank you so fucking much, Poppy. You said this better than I could, but I’m going to try to add a few notes.First off, the vikings were known to have visited the Americas multiple times long before Columbus stumbled onto the land, and they had plenty of altercations with the natives. Moving into foreign land and conquering is one of the things vikings were best at, and they are fucking REVERED.Are we just going to pretend that the Spanish were the first people in fucking history to conquer an entire group of people? Grow the fuck up.Also, in regards to the black woman’s sign: you can’t discover something that doesn’t exist. If you didn’t know something existed, and then you find it, you discovered it. Woah, words, right? The way the Spanish treated the Natives was shitty, but in no fucking way different than any other empire dealt with expansion. Stop trying to seem politically insightful by hating the white guys.

I mean seriously, are we going to pretend the Aztec, Inca and Maya empires expanded their borders by peacefully trading cowrie shell beads or something?  The Spanish conquest was essentially what is the sum of human history: the conquerers becoming the conquered.   The Spanish were vicious to those they conquered, but the Aztecs, Maya and Incas were every bit as vicious to the various tribes and kingdoms they conquered and those they captured as slaves or to be used in human sacrifices and ritual torture.  The  Aztec god of fire had his victims burned alive.  Tlaloc, the Aztec god of rain liked to have children as sacrifices, and it was common for the children chosen to be sacrificed to him to have their fingernails ripped out (since their tears were said to promise good rainfall) before having their hearts pulled out or they were drowned.

Yo, are we forgetting that one of the reasons (among many) the Spanish conquered the Aztecs so easily was that they recruited thousands of soldiers from the tribes the Aztecs had subjugated and forced to become tributaries? They welcomed the Spanish as allies in overthrowing the people that actually were oppressing them at the time.
Oh, right, this is fucking tumblr, whose views on race haven’t progressed at all since the 19th century “Noble Savage” bullshit that anthropologists were so fond of.

Yes.
